Eufy S1 Pro Robot Vacuum

Last year, I got my hands on the Eufy S1 Pro robot vacuum — and it completely changed how I handle floor cleaning. But after a full year of daily use, does it still live up to the hype? Is it really the best robot vacuum out there? Let’s dive into the truth.

First Impressions: Gimmicky or Cleaning Gamechanger?

When I first saw the Eufy S1 Pro, it honestly looked like something from a sci-fi movie. The feature list seemed almost too good to be true — and it promised to be the ultimate floor cleaning assistant. After a year of real-world use, here’s my honest take:

It’s excellent — but not perfect.

What’s Still Great About the Eufy S1 Pro?

AI Mapping & Navigation

Vacuum expertly navigating around a desk leg.

The AI-powered mapping and pathing remain impressive. The S1 Pro adapts quickly as things move around in my house — avoiding socks, pet toys, sandals, and furniture legs with ease. It handles tight spaces like a pro, which really puts it in the premium category for robot vacuums.

Mopping Performance

Its roller mop design is still one of the best I’ve seen. While some mop settings left streaks on tiles, switching to the deep clean mode gave me a noticeably better result. Plus, the mop washing and drying system is flawless — no more starting a cleaning cycle with a dirty or soggy mop.

The Not-So-Good: Where Eufy Could Improve

Cleaning Solution Dispenser Flaw

Out of the box, the cleaning solution dispenser doesn’t work right. No scent, no dispensing — because the container lacks an air gap for liquid flow. The fix? You actually have to drill a small hole in the container top to let air in. A frustrating design flaw that shouldn’t have made it to production.

Deep Cleaning Hassles

complex innerworkings of the dirty water compartment

Despite self-cleaning after each run, the vacuum still demands a deep clean every 6-8 weeks if you use it regularly. Here’s the rundown:

  • Brushes and dirty water tank are easy to clean.

  • Mop cleaning tray gets grimy quickly and needs frequent scrubbing.

  • Internal tubing and compartments build up gunk that’s tough to reach.

  • Cleaning nooks and corners requires extra tools like bottle brushes or cotton swabs.

  • Some parts’ awkward shapes make it easy to miss spots prone to mold and buildup.

A full deep clean can take 20-30 minutes and is not a fun chore. For a $1500 vacuum, this level of maintenance feels outdated — like servicing a 90s appliance rather than a premium smart device.

Is the Eufy S1 Pro Still Worth It in 2025?

Camelcamelcamel price history for the Eufy S1 Pro

That depends mainly on the price you pay:

  • MSRP $1499: I can’t recommend it at this price. It needs to be near flawless but falls short due to cleaning hassles and a few quirks.

  • Around $1299 (common sale price): More reasonable if you value its AI and mop design but still feels like first-gen tech.

  • $999 or less: Now this vacuum really shines. At this price, you’re getting top-tier navigation, excellent mopping, and a proven track record.

Competitor Snapshot:

  • SwitchBot S10: Cool auto water refill but early reliability issues.

  • Dreame X50: Great climbing ability but prone to getting stuck.

  • Roborock S10R: Innovative robotic arm for moving objects but niche and complex.

At the right price, the Eufy S1 Pro stands strong among high-end robot vacuums.

Final Thoughts

If you want features like mop washing, smart AI pathing, and a roller mop that actually cleans well, the Eufy S1 Pro delivers. It has saved me tons of manual cleaning time and outperforms every budget vacuum I’ve owned.

That said, it’s still an early-generation product with room to grow. If you’re willing to wait a generation or two, expect more refined and easier-to-maintain models ahead.
